Launch Complex 30 was built in support of Army Pershing I missile testing. The complex was built at a cost of about $5 million and was occupied by the Army on January 8, 1960. The site features the only two-story blockhouse on Cape Canaveral. Two flat launch pads were serviced by a single mobile service tower, although only one of the launch pads was actually used. Some of the Pershing I missiles were launched using mobile erector/launchers positioned on or near the launch pads. The blockhouse has been converted for office space and the two launch pads survive intact. There is currently a Pershing I missile display on the Launch Complex 30 grounds.
